Silk Reeling and Sun Style Tai Chi Camp with Numan Pekgöz & Tarik Tekman. 27-29 September, Cyprus
Silk Reeling with Numan Pekgöz (Chan Si Jing): Silk Reeling is both a Qigong and a Tai Chi exercise. Chen style Tai Chi and all the consecutive Tai Chi styles are based on the spiral power built by the motion systems of silk reeling. It can also be seen as the external manifestation of internal energy cycles directly related to Martial Arts applications and power releasing. From this perspective, silk reeling is the crossing from Qigong level to Tai Chi. Students can practice Silk Reeling routines as an alternative to long Tai Chi forms or as a preparation for the forms. In this weekend practice, the participants will learn the basic inward and outward silk reeling and their various combinations. Silk Reeling will be based on the Traditional Chen School and the participants are not expected to have specific experience.
13 Steps Sun Style Tai Chi with Tarık Tekman : Sun style Tai Chi is one of the five traditional schools of Tai Chi characterized by nimble steps, opening and closing of hands, gentle and graceful movements executed with an even speed and the emphasise on self-rejuvenation and energy work. There is no power exertion or jumping. Advancing or retreating steps are usually followed by a half step, and bow stances are only occasional. Relaxed mental focus is more important than physical exertion. Gentle postures and high stances make it a safe health and energy cultivation exercise. Sun Style Tai Chi combines Bagua Zhang’s stepping method, Xingyiquan’s leg and waist methods and Taijiquan’s body softness. No previous Tai Chi experience is required for this training.
